A custodian for George Mason Elementary School has been arrested in the alleged sexual molestation of a teenager, police said. Both school and law-enforcement officials said there is no evidence that any illegal activities involved children at the school.

The Richmond Police report an increased number of thefts from construction and rehabilitation sites across the area. This can take the form of theft from the location or breaking into houses undergoing construction or renovation. The thieves then sell the tools or supplies.
Chris Hilbert, Third District Councilman, has put together a plan to offer incentives to get police officers to move into the city, with the goal to cut crime and boost some of Richmond’s struggling neighborhoods. The plan would target neighborhoods with nagging crime problems and low to middle-income residents.

A 25-year-old man allegedly playing with a gun shot himself in the head last night 3400 block of East Marshall Street at about 10:30 p.m., police said. The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center, where details on his condition were not immediately available. [ from the RTD ]
