Mary Jones of MLK Middle named Teacher of Month
To honor local educators, The Richmond Voice Newspaper, will be highlighting a different local teacher every month. Mary R. Jones a science teacher at Martin Luther King Middle School was selected for the Teacher of the Month for January.

RPD concludes Blount killed himself
In a long article, the RTD is reporting that the RPD has concluded that East End robbery suspect Curtis Blount, fatally shot Sept. 20 after being cornered in an alley by police, killed himself with his own gun, according to a nearly completed police internal affairs investigation.

Teenagers plead guilty in Libby Hill assault
Four teenagers charged with raping and sodomizing a woman in Libby Hill Park in July of last year each pleaded guilty yesterday to four felonies. The four had been scheduled to be tried next week by a jury but decided to plead guilty after three of them tried unsuccessfully to have confessions thrown out of court.

Second Annual Black History Month Extravaganza
Councilwoman Delores McQuinn honored nearly twenty residents and others at Saturday’s Second Annual Black History Month Extravaganza at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School. The 7th District’s Community Heritage Awards 2005 were presented to men and women who were recognized has having done important work in the community. The day also included exhibits, performance, and a soul food dinner.
