Applications are available through Aug. 23 for participation in the 13th Annual East End Minister’s, City of Richmond, Richmond Public Schools Citywide Back-to-School Extravaganza, Parade, Rally, Revival and Pageant. City Schools Restructured and Renamed This Year
In the article Tour highlights changes at some city schools, the Times-Dispatch touches on some of the changes in the city schools this year, including the Kennedy/Armstrong and Mosby/King changes.
Also, School Board members Reginald M. Malone Sr. and Stephen B. Johnson will hold a community meeting pertaining to any public school matters on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 6:30 to 9 pm. at the new Armstrong High School, 2300 Cool Lane.

Monthly Bulk Trash Pickup is Next Week
Items too large to fit in a Supercan will be collected by the City on a four-week, rotating schedule based on zip code. The item needs to be put out at the start of the week and may not be picked up until the end of the week since there is no precise day when the collection truck is due to service any given block. The week of August 30th, pickup wil take place in the followin zip codes: 23219, 23222, 23223, 23227, 23231. For more information, call 646-0999.

Harvest Fest seeks sponsors
East District Initiative is seeking sponsors for the Annual Harvest Fest Event, Sunday, Oct. 31, 4-7 p.m. on 25th Street between M and Cedar streets. The festival provides safe activities for children and families, provides information about programs and services in the East District and focuses on the revitalization of 25th Street as a commercial hub.
