celebrate Edgar Allen Poe's 200th birthday
Celebrate Edgar Allen Poe’s 200th birthday with a Mournful Walk and a few Warming Hours at the Poe Museum. The Mournful Walk begins at 6:45PM at the grave of Eliza Poe in St. John’s Cemetery, and then goes to the Elmira Shelton House, down the hill for a view and history of the tragedy at the Monumental Church, past the Craig House, and ends at the Poe Museum at 8PM. For those not up for the Mournful Walk, they can go directly to the Poe Museum, doors open at 7:45PM, for the museum portion of the program. Cost is but $15 per person, which includes the costumed performances, a candle, museum entrance, a presentation of The Tell-Tale Heart, and coffee/tea/desserts at the Poe. There will stronger spirits available at an optional cash bar that features a wine of Amontillado. Sponsors of the Poe 200th birthday event are: St. John’s Church, the Church Hill Association, and the Poe Museum.
