Quick Update on Jefferson Avenue

From Mary F. from The Jefferson Avenue Task Force:

At the June meeting of the UHCA, Councilwoman Newbille announced that a budget item in the amount of $500,000 for Jefferson Ave. has been included in and approved for the upcoming fiscal year. This is an initial step toward implementing the EPA Greening of America‘s Capital Grant awarded to Richmond in 2015.

The funding for this project starts July 1, 2018 (FY19).

  • A design consultant will be assigned in July 2018.
  • A pre-scope meeting will be held in July with Internal-City Staff.
  • A scope meeting held in early August will be followed with a project schedule.
  • In August there will be a community meeting.

This infusion of funds moves us closer to a safer, greener and more vibrant Jefferson Ave. Each of you gave support to this project at some time during the last four years and we want to thank you. Without your encouragement and vote of confidence, this milestone would not have happened.

We look forward to seeing you at the August Community meeting.

Our sincere thanks for your support.
