Mark your calendar for the First Annual Light-Up Libby Hill

Mark your calendar for the First Annual Light-Up Libby Hill on Saturday, December 23, 2017.Want to help? Meet at the Libby Park House to assemble luminaries at 3 PM, and light candles at 4:45 PM.

Join Brian and Stacey Loos when they Light-Up Libby Hill with luminaries at this family-friendly gathering:

What better way to bring the community together than for an activity where neighbors can volunteer together in a relaxed, fun environment where all ages can participate.

A luminary is a white paper bag (lunch bag size) with a candle inside. The bags are spaced apart to outline walkways or other features. There are numerous examples on the internet showing how beautiful these displays can look. The plan is to outline Libby Hill Park and then move outward from there. How far we can go depends on the amount of participation!

For this first annual event, we will all meet at the park house at 3 PM to begin assembling the luminaries. It will be an assembly line type process…

– fill the bags with a few inches of sand
– insert a candle holder
– insert the candle
– place the bags around the park

Candles will be lit at 4:45 PM and should burn for approximately 6-7 hours. If possible, please bring a grill/candle lighter. Lighters with long necks make it easier to light the candle inside the bag; plus, there’s less likelihood of burning your fingers and you won’t have to bend down so much.

Ten luminaries cost $5.00. Because this is event is not sponsored by any organization, Brian plans to place an order and pay the costs upfront based on community member commitment. To RSVP, email Brian with the amount you would like to contribute – in $5 increments ($5, $10, $15, etc.) and he will order that amount. He asks that you bring your pledged contribution on the evening of the event.

Feel free to forward this information on to other individuals or organizations, other forums, community newsletters, etc. where you think it would help get the word out. Let’s get ready to Light-up Libby Hill!
