Richmond police responded at about 7 p.m. to a call for gunshots at a party in the 4300 block of Government Road in the Fulton area. Soon after police arrived at the scene, a man showed up at a local hospital suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He died shortly after that.
This is 42nd homicide in Richmond in 2017, and the 12th in the East End this year. This is the first homicide in Fulton since December of 2016.

At this rate I’m pretty sure the city is going to surpass last years tally. Crazy thing is more than 50% of those eastend homicides happend in Mac Mosby. It’s going to be a very long 4 months to the remainder of the year. Wonder how long it will take the police to give up there moral like they did in 2002-2006 or the late 80’s and 90’s. The police are catching bodies left and right. Three in one night spread out across the city
Another killing in Southside came in after this one, #43 for Richmond in 2017. Last year at this time we had 41.

Victims Identified in Two Homicides in Fulton Hill, Swansboro West
The Richmond Police Department has identified the victims of two separate homicides which occurred last night in the Fulton Hill and Swansboro West neighborhoods.
The first incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. yesterday evening, when police received several calls in reference to a shooting in the 4300 block of Government Road at Gillies Creek Park. When officers arrived, they came upon hundreds of individuals who were attending an event. While there were many witnesses, no one had information on the victim or suspect’s whereabouts.
Minutes later, officers were told a victim arrived at a local hospital suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Jamar L. Anderson, 32, of the 2200 block of Selden Street. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Around this time, a second victim, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound, arrived at the hospital.
At a separate scene shortly before 10 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of Wythemar Road for random gunfire. Seconds later, the several calls reported a person down inside of a white Ford SUV. Officers arrived and found the driver inside of the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. It also appeared the vehicle struck multiple vehicles in the intersection of Larchmont Lane and Wythemar Road.
The victim, Terrain L. Hunter, 35, of the 2200 block of Summerhill Ave, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death of both victims. Police do not believe the incidents are related. No suspect information is available at this time.

@5 I remember 1994. I was a teenager running wild in Richmond back then. In my opinion, this new Richmond, which has been rebranded into “Rva”, and is going through gentrification,is Disneyland compared to Richmond of 1994. I know that 43 is alot of homocides, but back then crime was all over the city. Not just murders, but robberies,assaults, malicious woundings,etc. Now it seems like alot of the crime takes place in one area. I still think that Richmond is safer now than what it is today, that’s why I called Richmond of today Disneyland compared to 1994. I remember when Tim Kaine was mayor of Richmond in the late 90s, you couldn’t walk down highland Park, Churchill,or Southside without someone pulling a gun on you trying to rob you. Real talk.

As the difference in the numbers continues to grow larger the RTD had a good break down:
“Of the 54 killings so far this year, 43 are homicides, according to police. Richmond police are investigating 40 of them, while Virginia State Police are working three others.
Six others, including the most recent, are being classified as death investigations; two have been deemed justified homicides, or self-defense; and one was ruled manslaughter, or an accidental killing. Police have also killed two people this year.”
And now a man is fighting for his life after getting into a fight near Main and 18th street. For some reason, the TimesDispatch doesn’t have anything on this event.
