Driver dips after crashing stolen SUV on 27th Street

From Eric:

Looks like a high speed chase ended up in a crash into a parked car in front of 404 N 27th Street around 1:20 this morning. Police have the block cordoned off. I was told to get back in the house and stay when I walked outside…see the passenger door also opened and the airbag deployed so must have exited that side, Tire was also flat on the side not damaged so, shot the tire out? No helicopters looking but also see no activity other than around 5-6 police cars here.

NCB12 says that is was a stolen and crashed SUV.

Actually, two cars were hit, one being new and totalled. I have sent photos to John M. to post but it looks like a black Ford Explorer came around the corner off Marshall in front of Dutch & Co., and hit a small Buick SUV broadside. It pushed it up onto the curb into a tree and then bounced off stopping across the street hitting a Honda. The owner of the Honda said the police told him that the occupants fled but not sure if they were caught?

That Explorer must have been traveling at very high speed to smash into this car that bad, push it over the 8 inch high granite curbs, into a tree bad enough to indent it into the car, bounce back down to the street, and break every wheel and axle on the car. Then the Explorer spin around to smash into the front of the second car on the opposite side of the street and push it down the block.

If anyone hears more about the fleeing fugitive and reason for the chase, post updates here.
