City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Monday – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.

Eliza Poe Returns to Masons Hall

A recreation of Eliza Poe’s, (Edgar Allan Poe’s mother), dramatic performance of 1811 will be made in its original location, Masons Hall in Shockoe Bottom on Saturday August 27th, at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Eliza will be played by Debbie Phillips of the Richmond Poe Museum, and will include songs and theater authentic to the original event. All proceeds will benefit the Masons Hall 1785 Foundation for restoration of the oldest Masonic Lodge building in America. There will be an open house 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm between performances.
