Principal David Peck, the newly appointed leader at Chimborazo Elementary, is making up for the late hour by visiting students’ homes in the neighborhood.
Mr.Peck comes to RPS after three years as an assistant principal in the Prince William County Schools system, six years teaching in Chesterfield County, and almost six years in the Navy.
He’s on Twitter at @peckdkva334 (as is Chimborazo now at @ChimborazoES).
At the end of the last school year, four of the area schools lost their principals. Mr.Peck joins Jeryl Scott who was named as the new principal at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in June in taking the reins at neighborhood schools in a time of unprecedented public focus on the city’s schools. Tamara Mines is the principal at Armstrong HS, and it appears that Woodville ES will be led by Interim Principal Vercynthia Penn.

Here’s hoping we can make the best of what, judging by some of the posts on his Facebook page, may not be a great role model for our young ladies and gentlemen. https://www.facebook.com/david.peck.79
Mr. Peck, if you’re reading this, feel free to hit me up via my web site, as I’d love to have a conversation with you.
Tess – I think that might be his dad.

So what did it say?? Looks like the link is broken (or taken down)
I had wondered that too, but a lot of the time when people put a number / year at the end of their handle, it’s their birth year. So I figured he himself would have been more likely to use the number 79. Anyway, maybe he’ll get in touch. Thanks John.
…Apple rarely falls far from the tree. Here’s to hoping that this is an exception.
@WarGibFa – I love my Dad, but please don’t judge me by what he puts on Facebook 🙂
@tess – I bit, too, for a few minutes and got riled up 🙂

@John- As a proud American, I reserve my constitutional right to judge everyone and anyone. 😉 But, yeah- fair enough, my prior comment wasn’t justified.

Too bad to see the first comment on this post so negative and mis-leading. That’s not his fb page – this is https://www.facebook.com/david.peck.77 I believe FB auto-assigns the trailing integer based on the order in which the David Pecks of the world sign up for facebook. More importantly, though, I would take a look at his twitter profile, which is full of extremely encouraging content, as well as his LinkedIn profile – https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-peck-78306031. Or, you can just get to know him the old-fashioned way, in person. I was fortunate to be a member of the interview panel. He’s extremely thoughtful, sincere, and passionate. I’m very excited to see him take the reins as Chimbo principal. Let’s give him our support … he deserves it.
Welcome to Chimborazo Elementary Mr. Peck, glad to have another member of the jaguar family.
Tom Oristian, I read his linkedin profile and I”m impressed. I have high hopes and he has my support as well as the new principal at MLK.
So many wonderful things have happened over at Chimborazo since my children attended our neighborhood school a decade ago. The families and teachers deserve much praise.
Yay!

Mr. Peck, I was hoping that we could have held it together a bit longer but the mask would have fallen off sooner or later. A hearty welcome to our big dysfunctional family!

lol at that facebook page. If anything it would make me even happier to hear about this new hire here to turn things around. It looks like he’s not a fan of government corruption.
