Violent crime down 17% from last year through June 30

Comparing total numbers across police Sectors 111 and 113 show that while crime across the area is up 7% when for the period January 1 – June 30 for 2015 and 2016, the violent crimes of homicide, sex offense, robbery, and assault are down 17%.

Drops in assaults and burglaries across both sectors would make up for slight increases in most categories, except for the 27% increase in “OTHER” in Sector 113. “Other” includes such incidents as: DUI, disorderly conduct, hit and run, warrants served, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, missing person, non-lethal overdose, shooting at/within occupied dwelling, promiscuous shooting, bad checks, trespassing, impersonation, drunkenness, suicide, mental subject, false pretenses/swindle/confidence game, obscene/threatening phone call, kidnapping/abduction, arson, natural death, etc.
