Creighton redevelopment picks up $2.5 million grant from the state

Graham Moomaw has details on a grant from the state towards the redevelopment of Creighton Court and the old Armstrong location:

A major redevelopment project in Richmond’s East End will receive a $2.5 million grant from the state, Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Wednesday.

The revitalization effort, expected to cost roughly $40 million, involves the city, the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and The Community Builders, a Boston-based development company that focuses on projects involving public housing.

The plan at its core is to redevelop the Creighton Court public housing community as a mixed-income community on the old Armstrong High School site, with the broad goals of seeing improvement in schools, safety in the community, resident health, and economic development.
