RVA East End Festival is this coming weekend (volunteer, schedule, parking restrictions…)

With assistance from Barbara Cotter and Kathleen Sanders:

The RVA East End Festival at Chimborazo Park is this weekend. Opening night is this Friday, May 6th from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. The Festival continues noon – 6:00 PM on Saturday May 7th, and noon – 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 8th. There will be 3 days of live music, food trucks, craft beer, vendors, and a kids zone.

No BS! Brass Band and vocalist Desiree Roots will kick off the three-day neighborhood festival at 6:30 PM, followed by the Richmond Symphony concert from 7:30 to 9 PM. The neighborhood’s own Church Hill Music Company will perform around 5:00 PM on Saturday.

The free festival is slated to raise $100,000 to purchase musical instruments and related materials for East End public schools.

PLEASE CONSIDER BECOMING A VOLUNTEER. Volunteers spots are open in the kid’s tent, beer/wine servers, setup/cleanup, data collection, and bucket brigade. For more information and to sign up, check out the listings on HandsOn.

East End Connects is looking for volunteers to staff a bike valet at North 32nd and East Grace during the festival. Volunteers will work for tips, with all proceeds going directly to Richmond Cycling Corps, the Armstrong MTB program, and the Armstrong Bike Park. Contact sleekitdogs@aol.com if you’re interested in this.

If you wish to make a donation (tax deductible), you can contribute online (on the East End Festival page).

Also, please be aware of parking restrictions and road closures during the festival.
