Dog & Pig, Sub Rosa, Dutch & Co win big at Elbys

The five years of the Richmond Magazine’s annual Elbys awards have mirrored both an amazing growth in the Richmond restaurant scene and the specific explosion of talent and creativity that has found a home in Church Hill.

The 2016 Elbys awards ceremony was held last night at the Virginia Museum, and the neighborhood was again well-represented:

  • Evrim Dogu of Sub Rosa Bakery was recognized at the 2016 awards ceremony last night as “Pastry Chef or Baker of the Year”, in what has been one of the toughest categories at the Elbys. A lot of baking talent in this city.
  • Just over a year after opening their doors, The Dog & Pig Show took home the Elby for “Grab & Go of the Year”. No shade on the other nominees, but it almost felt like the whole category was invented to be able to recognize D&P,
  • Dutch & Company brought home the most elite of awards, winning “Restaurant of the Year” — a neat step from Chef Caleb Shriver being lauded as a “Rising Culinary Star” at the inaugural Elbys.
