A heads up on new urban farming happening at Armstrong High:
Everyone check out the headway we’ve made on the Farmstrong permaculture project. More than an acre and half of land for row crops, hugelkultur beds, hoophouses, and a food forest. Come check out what Renew, Groundwork RVA and Armstrong High are doing in East End Richmond.

This is apropos, given that land belonged to E.P. Naumann the florist. A wall is left on that property from the shop and one of the green houses. Cool Lane was once lined with florists, Mosmiller near the intersection with Mechanicsville and Markow where the high school building stands. It’s nice to see stuff being grown here again than out of control weeds.
Hope there will be an accompanying farmers market.
@Cadeho -what was the reason for the concentration of florists? Proximity to Oakwood cemetery or some other reason? Never knew that/ Interesting bit of informatio.
