From Richmond Animal Care and Control:
I need your help.
We picked this dog up off of X Street in Church Hill and took him straight to VESC for evaluation. His injuries are suspect to dog fighting and were so advanced that he had to be euthanized.
We are moving forward with a full investigation and have a few tips but need more. We want to find the person (or persons) responsible and we need your help. Please share this post and call us at 646-5573 with any information- you can remain anonymous. Additionally, HSUS offers a $5,000 reward for any info that results in a conviction in the link below.

Too bad we can’t euthanize the individuals who caused the injuries.
Is this the same one?
So sad. Thanks for posting CHPN. I hope they find the monsters that did this!
I hope these people are found and rot.
This dog is standing up and requires “euthanasia”? These pictures do not match up with the narrative RACC is presenting.
Michael Grabow liked this on Facebook.
My wife told me that the dog had serious internal injuries.
Nooooo. Another tragic dog case in the neighborhood. So horrible on every level.!I can’t take another heartbreaking dog abuse story!!
I hope whomever laid this poor thing to rest knows they showed it the most compassionate it had ever known. I couldn’t do that work and my heart goes out to them as much as it does this dog.
Once in awhile I’ll see a man with a pitbull making it drag a chain around. I know what this means, I’m not blind. But I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do. Should I endanger myself. follow him and get shot? Or am I supposed to wait until I see this on the internet? Can the police even respond to observations?
I’d call the cops. At least you tried to do something
What do you think 911 is going to say? Seriously
Animal Control is who you report this to, not 911. Richmond Animal Control is staffed by wonderful people who take all concerns brought to them seriously. They follow up and do a great job. You can Google the phone number easily.
804-646-5573 – it’s in the post
In the past, Richmond Animal Control, SPCA, and a lot of animal rescue groups did a good job of exposing the dog fighting rings and bringing it down. That was about 10-12 years ago if I remember correctly. The animal rescue groups are usually the first to receive the injured animals. They have a good idea of where the dog fights (location) are going on because good people tell them where they found the animals when they brought them in.
So sad.
It’s been a rough week for dogs on the hill.
Oh John… Is there.. is there any way you could not have that awful picture on the front page? I know it’s what happened, but it makes me want to cry and vomit all at once. 🙁
I don’t even live there anymore and I want to do something about this. What is wrong with people. I want to say Karma will get them but I want something done NOW!! Could we put a group together to try to do something about this. It’s obvious that this is a problem.
Katherine @ 8. There are officers and organizations that deal specifically with dog fighting and cock fighting, often working undercover. Call these folks and ask them what to do next time you see him – even the smallest tip may help. http://www.vaanimalfighting.com/Home.html and 1-877-TIP-HSUS
Man, that is sad news.
I can’t believe people live in the area and don’t do something about this! It’s your neighborhood too. Stand up and call local authorities when you see something not right. Don’t be scared all you do is make a phone call you have to be their voice and change things. Please don’t let evil people rule places or animals. There are enough good people in this world and if we all ban together to change things it can be done!
