Carjacking on 35th Street

Carjacking / 1600 North 35th Street:

At approximately 10:45 today Richmond Police units responded to the 1600 block of North 35th Street for the report of a robbery. Upon arrival officers met with the victim who stated he was getting into his vehicle and was approached by a black male who demanded the victim give up his stuff. The victim stated he didn’t have anything. At that time the suspect struck the victim in the face and took his keys and vehicle. The victim sustained a minor abrasion to his face. Shortly after the incident the victim’s vehicle was recovered by police five blocks away in the 1100 block of North 35th Street. Police units are circulating the area and detectives are in the process of interviewing witnesses to this crime. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’10 , 180 pounds, in his late 30’s to 40’s. He was wearing blue jeans, a tan jacket and a black skull cap. He was medium to brown complexion and had a goatee. He was possibly armed with an unknown make and model handgun.
