The Tuskegee Airmen Motorcycle Club of Richmond, Virginia (TAMC-RVA) will be hosting its Annual Benefit Ride on Saturday, May 30, 2015. All motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to participate in this fundraising opportunity for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond.
Motorcyclists will enjoy a scenic ride through Richmond, visiting many of the city’s public housing communities. The ride will end at the Boys & Girls Club in Fairfield Court.
“Our rides have always benefited an organization that helps our children,” said Ricky Williams, TAMC-RVA president. “We started with ChildSavers several years ago. This year we decided to assist the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond because we realized young people in the city couldn’t afford to attend the summer programs offered at the clubs.”
Registration for the ride will be 8-10AM Saturday, May 30, at the Arthur Ashe Center (3001 North Boulevard). The registration fee is $15. Kickstands will be up at 10:15 AM.
Sponsorships also are available. Cost to sponsor the ride this year is $150. All proceeds from the ride will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond for their Summer Learning Program. If your club/organization is a sponsor for the ride, the registration fee is free.

How about this for a change to the headline and story?
“Noisy motorcycles will be disrupting the peace and tranquility of the neighborhood this Saturday. They will be riding through the projects, showing off their bikes to residents that can’t not even afford to pay rent without tax payer assistance let alone afford to purchase the bikes they are viewing. For the annoyance this will cause to the neighborhood and the indignity that will result from rubbing people’s nose in the fact that they don’t have enough money to fund their own children’s extracurricular activities, all proceeds will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond.”
If they really want to donate money to help the community, then just do so. There is no reason for all this disruptive pomp and circumstance.

We just had a reminder to take it down a notch or two. It’s clear from your comment, especially where you refer to “the projects” that you don’t live in that community. Why make an assumption about how folks in these neighborhoods would receive motorcyclists? It sounds to me like you are upset about the motorcycles and want to project that onto the folks who live in those neighborhoods.
And that you’re upset at all is sort of ridiculous, can’t people do something that improves our community and enjoy themselves? I commend these folks for taking time out of their day, spending money on gas, to raise money for a worthy cause. What are you doing to help the community? As I’ve begun reading articles here, it’s folks like you who make pompous comments like these that drive me away. Chill, and let other people help Richmond how they see fit.
