With their grand opening set for Saturday, the folks at Jus’ Fish at 1000 North 25th Street soft opened last week. Stop by for a 3-piece and cold drink!
I will be asking that they consider selling soft shells and blue crab during the season. If anyone else is interested in that, please let them know when you go by!
So if I understand this correctly, the 10 piece is the best deal per piece, but if you get more than 10, such as 20 or 30 piece the price per piece goes up? Interesting.
@Church Hillian – I haven’t seen the portions, so I can’t speak to the value for what you get, but there’s definitely plenty of parking for a take-out spot. Being on that triangle is kind of perfect for this.
As for the location, it really ain’t that bad. If anything probably helps keep the rent low 🙂 Seriously though, I’m on foot through there all the time.
Who are we to tell her what she needs to specialize in? The owner specifically wants to do “one” thing well…let her do it. And let us support her in that endeavor…
@G…I believe Matt simply was wishing for an add-on…Can’t hurt to ask, right? Most times, business owners are really interested in what their current or prospective customers want since that generally translates to more sales…more sales = more profit. See how that works?
I second the crab request. I don’t think it would be unreasonable, nor would it require a name change #7. Doing one thing well is an excellent mantra, but by being focused in on literally one fish, one offering, etc. the owner is limiting the potential audience as well. What if Proper Pie only sold 1 type of pie? I wish them much success, but the current, limited menu doesn’t exactly entice me.
I walked over there from Captain Buzzys this morning at 1130am. I waited on the corner for a few minuets before they opened. Everyone who walked by said good morning to me. I ordered the three piece. They don’t need to change or add anything. The service was friendly. It was delicious.

You can get a 3 piece combo with a drink from capitain D’s for like $8…..
Is it just me or does the prices make proper pie, Alamo and HIll cafes $7.99 meal specials sound cheap?
Plus lack of parking and one of the roughest places in church hill, I give it 2-3 months tops!

@ #4 Matt Conrad
Are you also going to suggest that they change their name too?
“Jus’ Fish & Crabs….All We Do Is Fish (and Crabs)”
The owner, Marion Hawk, said “Jus’ Fish will sell only fish sandwiches for takeout. ‘I believe you do one thing and you do it well,’ Hawk said.”

@ laura
OK, I “see how that works”…I’m gonna swing by there and put in my 2 cents worth too:
“Can you please add hand-dipped corn dogs and hot roast beef sandwiches to your menu?”
And “If anyone else is interested in that, please let them know when you go by!”
laura, they’ve been open for mere hours…Ms. Hawk has a distinct focus, please allow her the opportunity to see if her business flies on its own.
I would rather opt to mind my own business, and just try to support hers.
