Bicycle commuting and infrastructure growing in tandem

Catherine Komp’s WCVE piece on bicycle commuting and infrastructure in Richmond starts off with a look at the daily neighborhood bicycle pool to Chimborazo Elementary:

Across the US, most people get to work using motorized vehicles. But US Census data shows an increasing number are commuting by bike, growing 61% since 2000. Many cities, including Richmond, are working to make the streets more friendly to residents who have incorporated bikes into their everyday lives. Catherine Komp has more for Virginia Currents.


It’s a brisk 45 degrees outside, so everyone bundles up. But instead of climbing into a minivan, the Illians are strapping on helmets and getting out bikes.
