Lock up your guns people..Gun safes are very inexpensive.. Now hopefully your gun will not be involved in a robbery or much worse.. If you don’t have one already please go get one especially if you have kids

And, if you have kids be sure to have the gun(s) put away in a place that is safe and with a lock so young, inquisitive minds don’t find it and blow their, or their siblings brains out.

Better yet, don’t get a gun and they won’t break in to steal it and your kids won’t kill one another.

Good idea dan. Typical Liberal comment. Why don’t we just leave ALL the guns in the hands of the criminals? And then we can end end up like DC with super low crime rates.

Honest, law abiding citizens should never have guns, because its just not safe. It’s so so dangerous- only because criminals can break in and steal them. We can always use mase or karate to fight off criminals armed with guns right?

“Pardon me, Mr. Burglar, but I know you won’t mind waiting while I open the safe so I can get a gun to protect myself…”

Gosh, I didn’t know that keeping kids from killing themselves was a liberal thing. I just thought it made sense.

Borrowing this guote from one of Lt. Dan Minton’s emails (from our 1st Precint):

“He who does not prevent a crime when he can, encourages it.”

Crime typically drops in states with liberal gun laws. Keep in mind that FBI statics on children injured or killed by guns includes ages up to fifteen years old. Most of the gun related injuries are gang related. Always good to know the facts. We would all prefer to see guns disappear but in the world we live in that will never happen. The UK where there are very strict gun law, has one of the highest violent crime rates. Go figure.

@Dianna

Excellent info, and Thank You for the facts.

Human beings use all manner of weapons to each other. That capability to wantonly harm someone is part of our nature, and also is not going away. “Prey” animals have eyes positioned on the sides of their heads. Our eyes face front, to see *and deal with* the predator threat. A firearm is the simple evolution of a spear, which can now stop the threat at a distance.

Thornely, Diana, the UK does NOT have a higher violent crime rate than the US. There are mulitple statistics that show it is far higher in the US than in the UK, but you can start by comparing homicide rates. To cite a common source, check wikipedia. Your posts really sound like talking points for the NRA.

Edge

I didn’t compare it to the US at all. Check my post again. And, if you do the research you can’t compare the UK or any other country to the US because of the vast differences. For one thing when you go to jail in the UK you stay there. Here you’re set free in no time to commit crimes again. a revolving door. That is just the beginning of long list of considerations that have to be taken into account before you compare the US to others.

I don’t think Wikipedia is a good source for anything reliable….. Isn’t it banned for use at all higher learning institutions? Anyways-

1. I do agree if we could get rid of ALL guns there would less gun violence. But, if someone really wanted to kill someone, they WOULD use other means, like poison, a knife, a car or a bomb.

2. Regulations are put in place mainly for people who are going about getting guns in a proper fashion. They don’t really target crimimals directly. How many murders go and get a concealed carry permit, or pass a background check and then go do a driveby?

3. DC is a prime example of anti-gun areas that still have a really high crime and gun rate. But some blame it on getting guns from states like VA…

4. Look at history, if you take guns away from one group of people (law abiding citizens) and another group has guns (criminals), they take over and have control. It is what it is. This is why it was built into our constitution.

5. Why dont we do more to get the guns out of the direct hands of criminals? Like no questions asked, cash for guns trade ins. It has worked in many states.

Like Thornley said, a gun, a knife, a spear. All the same. If Adam Lanza wouldnt have had access to guns, I would put money on it he would have planned other means to harm those people.
