Four recognized with Golden Hammer awards

The house at 1310 North 27th Street burned in 2006. It sat vacant, on perhaps the most vacant block in all of Church Hill, for almost 7 years. Thursday night it was one of four Golden Hammer award winners, recognized by Better Housing Coalition in the “Residential Renovation” category.

The 2013 Golden Hammer Award Winners:

RESIDENTIAL
Back-from-the-dead renovation at 1310 North 27th Street by project:Homes.

SMALL COMMERCIAL
Conversion of the former porn shop into the restaurant En Su Boca at 1001 North Boulevard by Boulevard Gateway LLC/Lions Paw Development.

LARGE COMMERCIAL
Ground-up renovation at 2318-2320 West Main Street by Monument Construction and Johannas Design Group.

URBAN INFILL
Completely new Max’s restaurant building at 305 Brook Road by Ted Santarella and Harry Tinser.

In addition, the renovations at Meredith House at 133 West Jackson Street and the apartment complex at 3000 Monument Avenue were both given special recognition.

Congratulations to Bill Pangburn/Savoy Properties for being recognized by the Better Housing Coalition for “Best Commercial Renovation – Large Scale”, at the 2013 Golden Hammer Awards, October 17th at the John Marshall Hotel.
