Garden to Table dinner at Chimborazo Elementary

Chimborazo ES will culminate its year-long program, Garden to Table, with a dinner for parents and students.

The program, started in October, was designed to help develop healthy lifestyle alternatives for children. Three 5th grade classes participated in cooking demonstrations once a month with volunteer chefs and nutritionists using the produce they raised in their school garden. The program promoted health and wellness while giving students lessons on lifestyle alternatives, and was sponsored by Bon Secours and Mise En Place, Richmond’s premier cooking school.

The Garden To Table Dinner will give parents and the community an opportunity to experience skills learned during the program. There will be raffle prizes and gifts for attendees. Students that participated in the program will receive a cookbook with the recipes from the entire year.

WHEN: Tuesday, June 11, 2013

TIME: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Chimborazo Elementary School / 3000 East Marshall Street

The Garden To Table program is the first of its kind within the district. It was conceptualized by Communities In Schools site coordinator Caitlin Roberts.
