Fulton Memorial Park coming this spring

Thanks to the tenacious leadership of Spencer Jones of the Legacy Committee of the Greater Fulton Futures Initiative and thanks to the City of Richmond Department of Parks & Recreation, the history of Fulton’s golden years and tragic demise will now be commemorated by the Fulton Memorial Park.

Malachi Mills of RK&K and Andrew Bleckley of Cite Design met at the City of Richmond’s granite stockpile yard to inspect the remains of the Fulton neighborhood. In large piles rest the curbs and cobblestones that are the bones of Fulton. These pieces of infrastructure will be incorporated in the design of the park, which will be located at the base of Powhatan Hill Park on Williamsburg Road. The City of Richmond, Storefront, the Greater Fulton Futures Initiative and the RK&K and Cite Design team are working to begin construction on the Fulton Memorial Park in Spring of 2013.
