A new market on Jefferson Avenue?

Have heard credible rumors that the site of the former Jumpin’ J’s on Jefferson Avenue is slated to become the site of some form of upscale market. Anybody got any details?

I am really hoping this comes to fruition. That said, if even ONE of the two options along Jefferson Avenue – this or Evrim’s bakery/roastery – happen, my quality of life will be exponentially increased!

Do we know it will be something better than another Blue Wheeler? One can only wish.

I was really hoping someone would open an upscale corner store (ala Shields Market) at the corner of Jefferson, 22nd, and Clay across from Alamo.

But I’m excited to see this too.

I believe that the coffee/bakery across the street from the Roosevelt is a definite go and that the market is still up in the air.

@ #11, it’s great you brought up Shields Market; you’ll be pleased to hear that’s the exact business I heard mentioned as what they’d like to emulate.

I’m tired of having to drive to The Fan for a decent craft beer selection. Make this happen!!

Sounds like some of the folks on here know something about this project. Any idea when we might expect to see it open?

Here’s hoping they carry a full selection of 40s. I’m tired of having to walk to Blue Wheeler to get good malt beverages. 😉

There is still a for rent sign on the building.

@Alex, believe it or not, the corner store at Jefferson and 24th has a pretty decent selection for a store its size. Anchor Steam, Magic Hat, Legend, and some wierd ones I’ve never heard of before but that are pretty tasty.

@Alex, If there is a beer you want just tell moose at the family supermarket and he will get it if he can.

So it’s ok to open a craft beer market with ABC Off but when someone wants to do it with regular beer it’s not? These same rumors flew around for years about the spot on Broad and it ended up being the worst pizza place in the city.

PS… the owner the building is all over the place. He tried to rent it a year ago but insisted his own personal art goes on the walls, didn’t update it for code, and the interior was hideous.

#19, Shawn, Moose sold the Family Supermarket a few months ago. They do still sell a decent selection of domestic and imported beer, though.

While on my way to work this morning, I noticed a newly painted sign above the doorway to the building, but I don’t remember what it said. Does anyone have any more details on this potential new business?

Here’s a photo of the sign, but that’s all that I’ve got.
